Because some days are good
And then a week later, they're not. This was a couple of years ago. I've just sold it

You know your White Star Liners. My ancestors worked at Harland and Wolff in Belfast, before that they worked at John Brown on The Clyde. Titanic was fine when she left.

I have a mate who has some White Star Line crockery he picked up at a car boot sale for next to nothing, he got me interested in that era.
They were all fine when they left, the Britannic hit a mine in the Med in 1916. The Olympic (the first of the 3) had a very up/down life, sinking after a navy ship got in the way off Southampton. Refloated/repaired she lasted till 1937 before she was scrapped.

My Great Aunt had a pair of rivets from an Olympic Class Liner in a small mahogany box. She always claimed they were from Titanic but could've been from any of the three. Or maybe none of them. I wonder where they went.Hyperv12 wrote: βMon May 31, 2021 8:41 pmI have a mate who has some White Star Line crockery he picked up at a car boot sale for next to nothing, he got me interested in that era.

Back in those days Harland & Wolff were one of the best yards in the world to have a ship built if not The best. I have a lot of family living in Belfast still and when H&W went under it devastated the docks.
