When liberals make sportsmanship rules

Remember The High School Football Coach Who Got Suspended For "Running Up The Score" On An Undefeated Team? Well His Team Took A 36-0 Lead Tonight Then Punted On First Down And Kneeled Multiple Times In The Red Zone Instead Of Trying To Score

Plainedge High School head football coach Rob Shaver has been suspended for one game after allegedly failing to follow a lopsided scores policy. It mandates that coaches of football teams in Nassau County that win by more than 42 points explain what they did to prevent running up the score in an unsportsmanlike fashion.

The game in question was played last Friday night between Plainedge and South Side, both 6–0 teams. The outcome was a 61–13 victory for Plainedge. Pat Pizzarelli, the executive director of Section VIII Athletics, the association that oversees middle and high school sports in the county, said the rule was voted on three years ago as a way to keep scores closer and not embarrass the other team. "Their first team played in the fourth quarter… and I think that's what swayed the committee," Pizzarelli said. "Is it worth beating a team 70–0? Isn't 30 or 40 points enough?"

Plainedge decided to slide instead of score when they were up 36-0 at the end of the 3rd quarter then decided to kneel instead of try for a touchdown the first play of the 4th quarter because again, that would have been a 43 point lead, which is Threat Level Midnight to the Big Wigs of Nassau County athletics.

if i was a coach and my team got up by 36 early, i would have my team kick to them and when a guy gets the ball have everyone get out of the way and surround him and clap for him and follow him to the end zone. like they do for those downs guys every once in a while that you hear about.

So the winning team was basically taught 'be ashamed how hard you trained and how good you become as a team" That coach should be fired for being a coward in a competitive sport. Oh, wait, teams from Nassau County NY,that explains a lot.

nothing makes a team better than a good ass kicking--Dolphins are the exception, they suck for decades thanks to Marino and Shula...

Kneeling and punting on first down is the ultimate in shaming.

Pretty much. That would piss me off more than a solid ass kicking.

this.

Id rather be scored against, repeatedly, than have the other team refuse to compete against us. Was on a terrible baseball team one year. Lost a game like 27-0. It was embarrassing. If the other team intentionally struck out or walked the bases instead of running them, I might have just walked off the field. We got beat, by a better team. There is value in that.

In tournament softball there are mercy rules after certain innings, I thought it was a good solution as the game would end after 4 or 5 innings if a team was up 15 or so.

If you're killing the other team, get the reserves some playing time and maybe just run the ball.

If that still runs up the score, too bad.

Those rules are designed to save pitches/innings. There is no pressure to save rushes/passes/catches in football

we had that, but it was the 80's, volunteer leagues. Parents acting as umpires and coaches, playing on the empty fields at the elementary schools. There was a huge debate during the game at like the 4th inning. They were probably past 15 runs batted in, wanted to call the game. Our coach was a country drunk, one of the kids dads, didn't want to concede no matter what. the other team agreed to keep playing, we got creamed.

In football if the score is lopsided, the refs will ask if the coaches want to go to a continually running clock. Basically never stops during a drive regardless of an incomplete pass or going out of bounds. Hell they routinely do that in college football but both coaches have to agree. The game clock will also be sometimes delayed being started so that it's in reality a 1 minute play clock.

If a team punted on first down I'd be POed.

With what is now known about concussions, maybe there should be.

I played soccer when I was young with a group of guys who never played before in essentially a semi-pro league. One of our opponents tried to let us score and my team still fucked it up. We got kicked out of the league after 4 or 5 games for being too terrible.

Sad to do all that for a fad. Back in the day it was hula hoops, or clackers.
I've seen a couple of trannies at our local Target, and a couple of tranny kids at the grocery store.
