Re: Best-Selling Music Artists 1969 - 2019
Actually, RD's video and concept are total BS. Pre-internet, sales at record stores (where the artists got a hefty cut) ruled who was who. Incels pushing buttons on a computer board means nothing. The whole premise of this thread is stupid.

i only watched it up to around 1999. Which I guess is "sort of" before internet sales and pirate stuff. It seemed pretty accurate up to that point.WestTexasCrude wrote: ↑Wed Nov 06, 2019 11:32 pmActually, RD's video and concept are total BS. I are agreeant with this fine gentleman. From 2000 on there wasn't one artist shown that I've ever listened to.

Man, Queen was on there for like 20 years. Pretty crazy. But yeah rock is dead apparently. RIP

Also, the proportion of good to shit music being released hasn't changed. Cope with it.

I'm just curious how many of the artists from about 2010 on wrote the majority of their own music, and how much of it was written by Dr. Luke or Max Martin?

All I saw in this dipshit WestTexasDunningKruger's comment was a sad nearly 60 year old man trying to sound "hip" by attempting to use the word "incels" as an insult. The only other place I still see retards using that as an insult, is Fox news message boards. People who still use "incel" to try to insult people, are the same morons who use the word "libtards".WestTexasCrude wrote: ↑Wed Nov 06, 2019 11:32 pmActually, RD's video and concept are total BS. Re: Best-Selling Music Artists 1969 - 2019
I was wondering that too, but with some other bands. First, Elvis and the Beatles were practically always on the list for 15 years after the start of the count. None of the individual members of the Beatles ever appeared though. Not during Paul's big years during the 70's, or after John died. The Beatles slipped off during the late 80's, popped back on 90's for a bit, then never reappeared. Led Zepplin came on, then slipped off to bring in the Eagles for a good run. But where are the Rolling Stones, Boston, Rush, Styx, Van Halen, Heart, or all the other big arena rock bands of the 70's or 80's?! Was nobody buying their albums? Or were their time on the charts a mere blip?
And seriously, just who the hell was buying an Elvis album during the 70's and 80's? Or a Beatles album after they broke up?
If you can't be a good example, you can still serve as a horrible warning.

But it seems a large percentage of the public like songs that sound similar to other songs they like. That's why a lot of song sound similar nowadays. It's by design, to sell more. So, the next time you hear a new song that has a similar sound to an old song, check to see if Max Martin or Dr. Luke had a hand in writing them.windrunner wrote: ↑Thu Nov 07, 2019 7:45 amVery little of it. A clear indication that not only have music and other art forms been gradually turning to shit, but that the general population is gradually getting dumber. At some point in the future, society will be entertained by the sound of a repetitive whistle. Some asshole several years ago paid like $70 million for a painting that looked like someone smeared ketchup on a white canvas.kwebber wrote: ↑Thu Nov 07, 2019 8:15 amBut it seems a large percentage of the public like songs that sound similar to other songs they like. "Timeline history of most popular music artists from 1969 to 2019 ranked by yearly certified record sales." That's pretty interesting video.
