I'm not sure you'd get a surgical appointment any faster in the U.S., unless it was strangulated and life-threatening.

I had one for years, it finally incarcerated (went to the hospital, they gave me a muscle relaxant and elevated my feet). That's how I knew I had it (High School athletic doctor missed it for several years=he wasn't very competent imo).

Had the surgery appointment several months later. It's considered "elective surgery" for insurance purposes i.e. you have to involve your insurance company beforehand.

No, my hernia was confirmed back in Aug. I didn't get to see the surgeon until Dec.

And ya, unless it's strangulated it's not an emergency. It's just suffer and wait your turn.

Correct. And that's what they did at the hospital. Elevated the foot of the bed and gave me better pain meds than what I was taking because they were not cutting it.

they are normally immediate problem especially if a blood vessel is pinched. All MRI centers I know have results in 24 hrs,no business here would survive giving a reading weeks later----but I guess you get what you pay for.
