those pot holes aren't cheap either. if you go running around hitting them, you could be liable for damaging them.

I'm guessing you're shit out of luck. My wife did that recently with a leased car we had. 600 dollars in damage with 2 shredded tires and 1 bend rim. Fortunately I purchased the wheel insurance from the dealership and it was all covered. It ended up not costing me a dime.

The person I reported it to automatically submitted a claim to the clerk of courts since damage was incurred. I don't really care, comprehensive insurance will cover it.

Maybe they do things differently in the US America but I haven't heard of a single person getting money for damages from a pothole up here.
