You would be surprised at the amount of wildlife out here, even in the semi-desert. Tons of room with very few people.FreakShowFanatic wrote: ↑Fri May 29, 2020 10:08 pmI'm serious & factual when I tell you this WTC. Just 15 Wild Turkeys trotted across my yard. 15 deer charged through here like just a few days ago. There's a reason why they call NJ the garden state. I'm reasonably convinced that we have far more wildlife in NJ than you do in desert Texas, let alone what we have in the Jersey shore. Like I told you, it's nice living here.WestTexasCrude wrote: ↑Fri May 29, 2020 10:04 pm Pulled up to a well yesterday and saw movement nearby. 4-5 Wild turkeys. Really? Not a lot of people live in the barren wastelands? Shocking!WestTexasCrude wrote: ↑Sat May 30, 2020 11:36 amYou would be surprised at the amount of wildlife out here, even in the semi-desert. That's a good kitty.WestTexasCrude wrote: ↑Sat Apr 18, 2020 9:11 pmHell fucking no. 2 years ago, I had one burrow through my roof tiles to get into my garage outer space and into my attic. We could hear it running around overhead for days. Took off one of the under "vents" and deployed my secret weapon- my cat. Chased him out forever and I treed in my pecan tree. Blew his ass away with my shotgun. Cat took a few days to get down, thoughFlumper wrote: ↑Sat Apr 18, 2020 8:55 pmi trapped a few several years ago that were getting into the attic. I trapped them in a live trap, but they would die within hours of being trapped. i never released one alive.FreakShowFanatic wrote: ↑Sat Apr 18, 2020 8:47 pm I had some squirrels get in the attic of a house I had. It was so easy, I just put a trap on the roof with some food in it and I caught each one (about 3) in a week or so. I then sealed up the hole that they made, & drove them to the other side of town and let them go in the woods.
I didn't have to kill them, and I disagree, yes they are very cute. If you're threatened by a cute little squirrel & feel the need to abuse them what the hell kind of man are you?

We have so much other wildlife around here (foxes, coyotes, wolves, hawks, buzzards) that it is very rare to see a squirrel.
Biggest issue here is trying to plant a garden or flowers. The deer look at it as a buffet.

That does suck. My wife & I love hosta and hydrangea, and had a garden with around 50 different species between both of them in my more urban home. Unfortunately, so do the deer. We learned this moving out away from the city. They love to munch on them out here.

Isn't that a good thing? I'll tell you what, my prediction is that there will be a mass exodus from cities and people are gonna move out to more rural areas. I did it almost 5 years ago, and I have to admit I love it living in a more rural area.WestTexasCrude wrote: ↑Sat May 30, 2020 11:36 amYou would be surprised at the amount of wildlife out here, even in the semi-desert. No nosey neighbors bitchin' about where my trash cans should be or what time I should turn down my music, & who owns the car in my driveway, blah blah blah.
I love living out in a remote isolated area where people understand common courtesy as well as respect. We get along just fine here.
