So he made one mistake in his life. His role as Meathead was just him acting normally.

did you know they had two opening scenes filmed (that one and then one of him almost tripping and then going around it). They would troll the audience by randomly playing each one at the start of the show.

the show i saw last night was the one where Sally finds the guy at the bowling alley that has a song called the "Twizzle". Sort of an Elvis guy. Anyway, Laura looks pretty good doing the twizzle.

She was a dancer before she became an actress.

some of the dick van dyke trivia said that reiner was so cheap that he wouldn't even buy wardrobe for the cast of the show. they had to all wear their own clothes on the set.

Was that for the whole run or just the early shows? That show was a big hit so i would think the money was rolling in during its hey day
I assume it was for the whole run of the show. but i'm not really sure. they also said that when reiner pitched the show he was going to star in it. but they didn't like him for the part. he was never supposed to play "allen brady" so they only filmed him from the back or out of the camera so they could later put a character in to play him.

also, jerry helper, the neighbor (dentist) was the director for the show. that's why he wasn't in the show much after the first season.

The production costs would have been mostly offset by the show's sponsor, and Reiner would have had no (or very little) direct say about the show's expenses. CBS and their production accountants had more control over production costs.

Jerry Paris, the actor behind the dentist neighbor, directed a lot of the show's episodes, and went on to direct a lot of shows, including Happy Days and The Mary Tyler Moore Show, and even a few episodes of The Munsters.
