HG Well's "War of the Worlds"
So, if the Martians tried that whole "take over the Earth" BS today with all that tech they possessed but seemingly ignorant of microbiology, would not our response have to be to nuke their planet back to whatever "Stone Age" they ever had? Questions still persist.

I read the first post without looking at who posted it.disco.moon wrote: ↑Wed Nov 25, 2020 11:29 am You realize that was just a story right? Like, they never actually "tried that" back then. And I think our response would be to blame is the Republicans/Democrats.
Then I read your response.
Then I thought "Holy fuck, I bet I know which blithering idiot made the first post."
And I was right.
W/CTC, you're a flat--earther, aren't you?

In Mars Attacks! they inhaled the nuclear explosion like it was helium so nukes aren’t effective against Martians.

Re: HG Well's "War of the Worlds"
I thought the 50's version was pretty good, considering they didn't have CGI and such. And what was the deal with the Cruise version where they rose up from underground instead coming from space. That means the machines were planted hundred's of years ago, at least. That was never explained.BigRedRetard wrote: ↑Wed Nov 25, 2020 12:55 pm The Tom Cruise War of the Worlds was better than the original.

I may be in the minority here, but I loved the Tom Cruise WOTW movie.BigRedRetard wrote: ↑Wed Nov 25, 2020 12:55 pm The Tom Cruise War of the Worlds was better than the original.

That rings true. In the 50's version, the Army tried to nuke the machines but they had some kind of "shield". I guess the home planet would be massively defended.

I always wondered when Fred Flintstone would run through his house, how long the house was? I mean, sometimes it seemed as if he had run several hundred yards while he talked to the camera. I wouldn't have thought that cavemen would go to that much effort to build a rock house that large.

I don't think that shark that ate Robert Shaw at the end of "Jaws" was real. It looked kind of fake to me.

Re: HG Well's "War of the Worlds"
A slithery invasive species known as the shovel-headed garden worm is on the move in Georgia — spotted numerous times around the state, including more than 100 possible sightings in the Atlanta area alone, according to reports.
The snake-like creature is a terrifying sight.
Also known as a hammerhead worm because of its distinctive half-moon-head shape, the terrestrial planarian is yellowish-brown with a stripe down the middle of its back.

It can grow up to nearly a foot in length and is also mildly poisonous if handled due to a toxin secreted through its skin.
The toxin is reportedly the same deadly neurotoxin produced by the pufferfish, according to CNN, which cited a study from Utah State University.
Another strange feature of the worm is that its mouth is not located on its head but midway down the ventral side of its body. Even creepier, planarians are known to regenerate into two separate creatures if they are cut in half.

Re: HG Well's "War of the Worlds"
Plot wise, I guess what I'm saying about Spielberg's WOTW version is the Martians planted those machines underground hundreds of years ago waiting to be manned for the attack. So, why the wait? Could have attacked in the early 1800's when all we had were muskets and cannons. Why wait until we had supersonic bombers and fighters and Nukes? This is never explained.
