Check if there is a Montgomery Ward retail location there.
If I lived in yer holler I’m sure I could afford a nice cabin on a furniture department head’s salary.

But my town’s median resale price was 1.3 last year. It’s even higher now.

You should stick to making fun of my age.
can we make fun of both?
not that its bad in either direction i just want to make jokes at someone else's expense.

It's always the republicans that pull the "look at my wealth" bullshit. Like that matters to me.

Honestly. Who doesn't tie a sweater around their neck and reach into their $24,000 refrigerator for a pint of hand crafted mail order ice cream? I know that's how I spent my Covid lockdown.

I drove an ice cream truck 3 times, but never jacked it. I did have this black chick that was pretty good looking she showed me her tits for a couple bomb pops so she became a regular customer. The third time though she bought a couple guys out with her that had baseball bats so I took off. That was when I quit. It wasn't the best route, pretty rough part of town, right by the kelogg cereal factory in Battle creek. The first time when it was time to get paid the guy said I owed them $72. He said I must have gave out too much change alot. I told him he was full of shit and he said he'd re-figure it and he came back with $17 for about 12 hours of work, not too bad. The next couple times weren't much better. I talked to a young guy about 20 years later that tried it with the same company and he told the same story, they said he owed them a mess of money and then they paid him $20. I said it's nice to know they've remained consistent over the years. There's another good story (actually more than one) involving that guy. Save those for later.

Didja ever tour the plant? We did 2 years in a row. 2nd and 3rd grade field trips. They gave you a six pack at the end.

It can be done but a logistical nightmare that only billions can solve.
so reading through all of that it sounds to me that the concentration level is the problem. its too diluted. So the solution to that is to evaporate off the water and get a higher and higher concentration of the radioactive waste, right? Assuming you could keep the rain out of it and it just naturally sat there and evaporated, it would take a while, but it would happen. Once you get it down to where the concentration levels are high enough, then you use the reverse osmosis process?
You want to concentrate it but evaporation is a danger, not the solution. You dont want this stuff getting airborne. The salt water pool is used to replenish the pools housing the really bad shit as far as I understand. The issue all the other solids in the water, primarily gypsum, will clog every viable method of filtration to the point its not practical.
evaporation can't be much of a danger. if this shit has been sitting out in the open in Florida for over 20 years. i know water from a swimming pool will evaporate about 1 inch per day in the summer. so, imagine based on the sf of surface area of that pond how much water has evaporated over those 20+ years.
Evaporation isn’t an issue, like distillation the solids are left behind.

Now if the entire pool evaporated, the dust being formed would blow away and that’s a problem, so they use the large pool to replenish the smaller pools holding the low level radioactive shit.

I’m now starting to wonder how big of an area this is compared to Chernobyl, if it would be practical to cover it with a building and then dry out the radioactive ponds and bag n tag the soil.. I bet it’ll be a lot of solids. Unlike Chernobyl it would only have to have environmental control for maybe 10 years max? If there’s a viable plan to do something with the solids?

The wastewater at Piney Point is not radioactive, according to the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.

yeah, now you are starting to think like i am. you figure out a way to evaporate the water out and dial this down to the problem of dealing with the solids. that ultimately remain. based on the dilution you guys are talking about, I wouldn't think that volume of solids would be all that much. but you have to keep any additional water from ever reaching it (rain or runoff) and then wait on the slow process of evaporation. maybe pipe some solar heating tubes through it to warm it and speed evaporation. Its not a short process by any means, but its one that gets better every day.
