My suggestion would be to just loosen up the outfits that cops wear. Get rid of the boots and gun belts and all of the bullshit and have them in kahkis and polos. They can still have a pistol or taser or whatever, but they need to be dressed more like a salesman at Best Buy than some guy fixing to storm a compound in Fallujah.
I think all that garb they wear gets in their head.
I believe this to be true, unfortunately it appears that the more of these situations happen, the worse it gets, Cops are scared to be cops and they are fucking jumpy. We obviously have a need for policemen, but the general process and attitude needs to change, and of course the victims are getting an agenda too, there’s something that needs to change all around.

They need to lose qualified immunity
i just don't see that as a practical option. you literally have to protect them in some regard to lawsuits from nutters out there. All they do is come into contact with people and mostly in unpleasant situations. if they could be sued personally for shit, who knows where that would lead.
but, the point is that the departments that employ them need to fill in that gap. the public needs a way to make formal complaints and then the department deal with it almost as if they had been sued personally. if that makes sense.

go ahead and cross into one of their crime scenes and see how that works out for ya
Well I don't see how that's relevant, come try to break into my house and see how that works out for you.
im not sure how me breaking into your house is more relevant. however, i picture it like this. i sneak in through an open window and quietly shuffle through a bunch of old veitnam era military stuff and decide i wasted my time. As i try and sneak back out the window...the framing on the double wide creaks and i hear a 10 second 3 tone fart caused by fear and some old guy ripping of his oxygen mask. in a very cartoon animated voice i hear "hark...who goes there"...i respond with its just the dog and i climb back out the window and twist an ankle on the pile of old tires in the yard and i sue you for endangerment. we settle out of court and you file a bk before i am able to collect. seems like we both waste a lot of time for nothing...the end
Isn’t it odd how libs teach our children how awful and racist our founding fathers were. Yet they completely burnish their own party’s filthy lynching past.

Self awareness. Clearly not their strong suit.
The old democratic party was never liberal....maybe you should open a book and shut your croissant hole and learn some history
