I was outside early this morning enjoying a cup of coffee and noticed a whitetail deer doe with 2 newborns (kinda- maybe 2 weeks). Both had the markings of axis. Thought maybe they had hooked up after the axis mom died or something but the whitetail was nursing them. What's the deal with that? I didn't think whitetails and axis could breed together.DiverTexas wrote: ↑Sun Jun 20, 2021 7:12 pm I would consider Galveston coastal, Houston is just close, compared to DFW , Austin or San Antonio.

for accuracy, you will probably want bullets with around a 75 or 77 grain bullet weight. That gun has a twist rate in the barrel of 1 in 8. My AR has a twist rate of 1 in 7 which is just a bit tighter, but the best bullets I have found for accuracy and price are this (and I think they would be fine in that gun):

I know they are out of stock, but that' just a link that shows the info on that bullet. 77 grain for a 5.56

I also need a sight as this doesn't come with one. I'm gonna wait till my buddy comes up from New York to shoot, he doesn't get to play with toys because of Democrats. 223 would be cheaper for target shooting no?

Re: plans for the long weekend?
your gun will shoot 223 or 5.56 either one. And there is basically no difference in those bullets at all. if you are wanting cheap bullets to just shoot for the hell of it and not care the accuracy, then there are tons in the 50 grain range. But if you are wanting to get a group of 5 bullets in a 1 inch circle, then you need to start really finding the best bullet for your gun.
As far as scopes go, check this one out. Its not world class, but its cheap and not bad.

if you go with the red/green dot type of scope, then that's a totally different animal. I don't like them, but I am more of a hunter. Those are more designed for the guy that is trying to hit a bad guy at 20 feet away. They are worthless on a target at 100 yards. But they aren't meant to be used on targets at any kind of distance.
start with the red/green and see if it does what you want to do. everyone has different uses for a gun.

With a 1:8 twist, you should be able to stabilize both the lighter and heavier rounds.
