What it's like to ride America's scariest roller coaster

“For the record, let me just say I think this is a terrible idea.” The man speaking is Owen Grady, velociraptor whisperer from the “Jurassic World” movies, who is adamant that whoever’s about to board the Velocicoaster is making a huge mistake.
“I don’t care how long you’ve been waiting. Turn around, go home, this isn’t going to end well,” Grady (played by Chris Pratt) says.
I’m not going to lie. I was tempted to listen.
I was standing in the ride queue for Universal Orlando’s newest ride, a major thrill coaster that officially opened on June 10, feeling some major dread about what I was about to do. This roller coaster is intense enough that, when the park released a simulation video back in September, just the CGI rendering made my insides squirm.

I live just up the road about four miles from that. That's as close as I'll ever come to riding that thing.
If you can't be a good example, you can still serve as a horrible warning.

According to renderings, after going up the 130-foot (40 m) tall lift hill, the train will go down a 87° drop, which leads into a dive loop and then an airtime hill 180° stall. It will then go up into a turnaround, which drops down into a zero-G roll. After a mid-course brake run, the train will go over a few airtime hills, before fully braking at the end and turning around to go back into the station

I don't mind the twisties and the loop-de-loops but I cannot stand that vertical drop stuff. That last moment when you're at the very tippy-top looking out over everything and then Wham
I blame Biker.

I've only seen one black albino IRL and if it weren't for Pluto Nash i would've thought he was just fuck uglyBigRedRetard wrote: ↑Tue Jun 15, 2021 2:45 pm True story. I have seen around 3 actual albinos in my life. All three times was at 6 Flags Great Adventure.

my biggest problem is being on the engineering side of things and also in construction. I know how design engineers have to use factors of safety in designs because sometimes they really don't know what the results will be. So they try to build in a safety factor. And then I absolutely know how construction guys put shit together.
I can't even get on a gondola at a big ski resort without spending the entire ride examining the pulleys and connections and welds and cables and towers and .......

Then you definitely don't ever want to go on this!
Valravn
https://www.cedarpoint.com/rides-experiences/valravnDo you dare try and conquer Valravn? You better come prepared to have your plans squandered. This coaster elevates riders 223 feet up into the skies and then dangles them over the edge for what feels like an eternity before dropping them at a 90-degree angle.
P.S. You can't say you're a thrill ride junky unless you've already visited Cedar Point in Ohio

If you want a real contrast, head over to Hershey Park in PA. They really run a top-flight operation there.
