Blast and DT collaboration
I say it was a collaboration, but the truth is Blast did most of the work.
He took some 5160 steel. profiled the blade, ground it, forged it, quenched it, did the heat treatment on it, and then tempered it for 2 cycles at 400 degrees.
I simply put some scales on it and did a little sanding.
I believe Blast will be taking my spot as UJ's knife maker.
I've seen some of his other work and think he's found his calling.
As I said, the steel in 5160 with stabilized Manzanita scales inlaid with blue epoxy.

Very nice!
What do you use a knife like that for? Is it a skinning knife?

I took note of his Blacksmithing abilities and decided to collaborate on a project.
Yes Sir, it will serve as a skinning/hunting knife for whomever Blast sells it to.Reservoir Dog wrote: ↑Sun Jul 18, 2021 7:00 pm

I actually collaborated with a pair of brothers that are quickly becoming very well known and respected Bladesmiths.disco.moon wrote: ↑Sun Jul 18, 2021 7:14 pm Great work guys!! DT is this the first time collaborating with someone?
I was fortunate that Travis and Jason Fry kinda took me under their wing about 25-30 years ago.

That looks great DT! Thank you for the ringing endorcement as well. I've been working hard to learn how to work the metal and I'm glad that DT agreed to this.
It's an utility knife. This is a thin and light blade.Reservoir Dog wrote: ↑Sun Jul 18, 2021 7:00 pmVery nice!

Quick update, even though I wasn't trying to advertise the knife for sale, there was an interest in purchasing Blasts knife. It will be heading to its new home once the sheath is done and the blade has its final sharpening.
Thanks for the kind words from both Blast and myself.

I have been buying knives from DT for many years. I ended up purchasing this one from DT & Blast and I have to say its badass. The blade work is fantastic and the handle is crazy. I would highly recommend buying anything they work on in the future. Thanks guys its a great piece.

I'm still trying to figure out how Blast got into the knife business. A year ago his job seemed to be figuring out the sex of baby chicks.
