Drag queen story time in public libraries.
Big issue right now. How do we feel about it? Parents’ rights, bad idea, etc.?
Would you take your child to one?

I wouldn’t take my kids to one. What other people do is not really a concern, for me, though.

There was a uproar because a publicly funded library was hosting them.

Eff it. Maybe they'll crowd out the stinking hobos surfing for porn.

So they volunteer to go read to kids at the library? And some people voluntarily attend? Oh noes. This is why god hates america.
Looks like it's a 501c run on donations, so on that basis I see no reason to object. Personally I wouldn't take a young child to be entertained by drag queens, strikes me as a bit weird. I just wouldn't stop anyone else from taking their child. By the same token I'd support it if some christian charity wanted to offer bible studies in the public library, and I wouldn't take my own kid to that one either.

Nah, drag queens were a controversy in the 70's. You need to step up your game to a black handicapable transgenderqueer politician to get some attention these days.

Meh. It's a public place and they are part of the public. There shouldn't be any bitching when the jesus freaks also want to do one .

They had one here not long ago. You would think they were sacrificing the kids to Satan from the fundie uproar. They just dont care that attendance is not mandatory, and drag queens pay taxes for the library use too. Its Christian sharia, or else there will be protests, boycotts, threats to pull funding from the library, ect.

I’m on an iPad, so can’t effectively look this up, but do you remember fights years ago about whether Christian groups should be allowed to use public school facilities? I seem to recall that. The real question is: What are they reading?
The who is secondary.
The who is secondary.

Re: Drag queen story time in public libraries.
I dont care who is reading to my child. The issues I would have are: what are they reading?
Are they trying to push a message when they arent reading?
Are my kids comfortable with that person? (which that goes for anyone).
How are they dressed? If it appears as sort of a normal attire, that's fine. Too outrageous exposure. Penises, vaginas, or tits on the outfit. ( even if it looks like it but isnt).
Those would be my concern. Otherwise read a book, who gives a fuvk.
