That, and everyone could pay their fair share of taxes.

We already have a progressive tax structure in place and over 40% of Americans currently pay zero Federal income tax. What is "fair"?Reservoir Dog wrote: ↑Thu Aug 22, 2019 9:16 pmThat, and everyone could pay their fair share of taxes.

Edmunds says the F-250 MSRP Range is $36,745 - $80,440. I should have said $58,592.50, not $60K. Sorry for the misinformation.

Now you are just being cray. I didn't say the average pair of sneakers is $150. Just like the average athlete or movie star doesn't make 30 mil. The average car tire cost about $100. What do you pay, Mr. fiscally responsible?

I just paid $373.10 for 2 rear tires, but they aren't average tires on a average car.

An F-250 isn't your average everyday pickup. If you're buying a 250 you're hauling something big.

$60K / year for college
Every 8-year with a $1,000 iPhone
Athletes playing kids games for 4 months a year making 30 mil /year
Actors making the same per movie
Concert tickets for aging rock bands at $250
$60K for an average pickup truck
$150 for sneakers
Family friendly vaca to Disney $10K
Whatever a bitcoin is, $10,000
It didn't take all that many years to get here. What's next?

Damn, you are so smart. I should have said your average Joe 'around here'. And yes, every kid has the latest and greatest iPhone, all teenage boys have $150 Jordans, and a standard pickup truck up here in NH is not a 2WD Toyota. Pat yourself on the ass, you got me.CaptQuint wrote: ↑Thu Aug 22, 2019 9:32 pmPimpDaddy wrote: ↑Thu Aug 22, 2019 8:54 pm Numbers don't mean anything to the US these days, never mind trying to wrap your head around the concept of a trillion dollar deficit. It doesn't matter, red or blue in control of the government, the National Debt will only increase.
That's how debt spending and base line budgeting works.
If you think 22.5 trillion is bad; check out that number when you factor in all the unfunded liabilities like Medicare and Social Security.
(Hint: its over 100 trillion with those added).
But don't worry, eventually America will be deemed "too big to fail" and the World Bank/IMF will own us after giving us a nice bailout package.

How is Medicare and Social Security unfunded when every person pays into them all their working life?Cassandros wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2019 12:10 am It doesn't matter, red or blue in control of the government, the National Debt will only increase.

Yes, and every year those deficits adds to...
...What?
The answer is something far worse than the fucking deficit; and, though you might not believe it, it is also very relevant to this thread.

They are bowl funds that work similar to ponzi schemes; young peoples money today is paying for old peoples care today.DandyDon wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2019 12:25 amHow is Medicare and Social Security unfunded when every person pays into them all their working life?Cassandros wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2019 12:10 am It doesn't matter, red or blue in control of the government, the National Debt will only increase.

What it is not: is a saving account where you put money into and one day you will get your money back out.

Very much so.

1) Pretty sure you will just pass out. (Unless, you know, you have some fucked up medical condition).
2) That's a pretty fucked up thing to say to someone.
I know the media tells us to hate our neighbor, especially if they root for another team. BUT we have to be better than that if we want to move forward as a species. This particular topic affects us equally, red, blue, and indifferent. You are hung up on this irrational spending going into 2020, I am telling you this irrational spending has been going on much longer than a year, or even a few years. It does not matter who you elect in the White House, spending comes from Congress and they follow a system that can only borrow more and more. By 2024 do not be surprised when we are spending a trillion dollars ever six months.
