So I either had it then or was completely asymptomatic.

Wouldn't the confusion be that the WHO is giving recommendation for the entire world, which is dealing in many different vaccines. Reading it says that they are making the recommendation because there hasn't been testing on children younger than 19. Obviously, that can't be meant for the United States because we have the testing for at least 2 of the vaccines we use (Pfizer and Moderna) for children as young as 12. The CDC has even reviewed and approved them.

So, this WHO recommendation can't be directed at the US, it must be for other countries around the world using different vaccines?

Reading more about it, this sounds more like the "face mask" debacle. The recommendation by WHO (for the rest of the world) isn't so much about the lack of testing on children or the safety of using a vaccine on them. Its about a short supply of vaccine and that children are the lowest priority since they don't get very sick. In other words, don't waste vaccine on children right now, use it on adults that are more at risk. That's how they should have worded it.

Their recommendation has nothing to do with vaccinating kids as young as 12 in the US. We should be doing it as quickly as possible. These vaccines don't last forever. They have a shelf life.
