I bought some Amazon last year. I could only afford 10 shares. I have never bought in that low of a quantity of shares. stocks used to split when they got over around $30 to $40/share.

i think that one is closed. but i have spent my life wishing i had some Berkshire and its always been way out of my reach. I want to say they have a Class B that is open but you can buy a house cheaper than buy that stock.B-Tender wrote: ↑Tue Jun 23, 2020 10:36 pmYou didn't just get some Class A Berkshire shares?

Class B are the cheaper ones, I used to own some. Class A are going for $272K a share now, down from over $300k a little while ago.Flumper wrote: ↑Tue Jun 23, 2020 10:37 pmi think that one is closed. but i have spent my life wishing i had some Berkshire and its always been way out of my reach. one thing they are good for, even for the cheap seats like us, is to watch for what he is buying or selling. i saw where he was dumping all of his airline stock a few months ago. one think about buffet, he's not afraid to dump stocks even if they are in the shitter. which i know, sounds obvious to most people, but if you own a stock and its low (like american airlines is now) then you hate to sell because you have seen it so much higher.

I agree. Buffet doesn't "price anchor" to any company.Flumper wrote: ↑Tue Jun 23, 2020 11:01 pmone thing they are good for, even for the cheap seats like us, is to watch for what he is buying or selling. i saw where he was dumping all of his airline stock a few months ago. one think about buffet, he's not afraid to dump stocks even if they are in the shitter. which i know, sounds obvious to most people, but if you own a stock and its low (like american airlines is now) then you hate to sell because you have seen it so much higher.

its almost like somebody has given this virus a global steroid injection. globally the numbers were going down down down a few weeks ago and no, boom they are close to 200,000 new cases per day. brazil was dropping off and now its over 40,000 new cases per day.

i'm tracking deaths. not hospitalizations. deaths were on the decline. steadily going down everywhere . worldwide and locally. deaths are still going down in the US, but globally they have started to rise again. this is a very frustrating thing to track. it just doesn't follow any kind of predictable path. the minute you think you know what is going to happen it changes.B-Tender wrote: ↑Wed Jun 24, 2020 4:55 pmAre you tracking the hospitalzations and deaths also?Flumper wrote: ↑Wed Jun 24, 2020 4:25 pmits almost like somebody has given this virus a global steroid injection. globally the numbers were going down down down a few weeks ago and no, boom they are close to 200,000 new cases per day. brazil was dropping off and now its over 40,000 new cases per day.

Well Houston will be an interesting city to watch. If the deaths start climbing significantly in 2-4 weeks that will justify the number of positive cases in the last week. If the death numbers don't shoot up, I will have even more doubts about the way positive tests are being counted.Flumper wrote: ↑Wed Jun 24, 2020 4:59 pmi'm tracking deaths. not hospitalizations. deaths were on the decline. steadily going down everywhere . worldwide and locally. deaths are still going down in the US, but globally they have started to rise again. this is a very frustrating thing to track. it just doesn't follow any kind of predictable path. the minute you think you know what is going to happen it changes.B-Tender wrote: ↑Wed Jun 24, 2020 4:55 pmAre you tracking the hospitalzations and deaths also?Flumper wrote: ↑Wed Jun 24, 2020 4:25 pmits almost like somebody has given this virus a global steroid injection. globally the numbers were going down down down a few weeks ago and no, boom they are close to 200,000 new cases per day. brazil was dropping off and now its over 40,000 new cases per day.

Well, I do know for a fact that Houston is experiencing hospitalizations that justify the surge in positive cases. And the % of positives (positivity) in the testing is suddenly going up the past few days. Something is going wrong.B-Tender wrote: ↑Wed Jun 24, 2020 5:06 pm Well Houston will be an interesting city to watch. that's always the dilemma with stocks. its the same when you're on a dice table in vegas. someone says "damn, why didn't you quit when you got up so much?" and you just want to say, "if i thought like that, i wouldn't have ever been up that much in the first place".

Gonna hold. These companies are positioned pretty well for high growth for the next two to six quarters as far as I can tell. The Trade Desk is the one I'm a little worried about being over their skis. If the market tanks and everything goes down at the same time, I would put more money into the top three at lower prices.CHEEZY17 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 02, 2020 9:03 pmEasy money. Congrats. Well that was an ugly finish to the day. Took almost a 10% haircut in the last few hours of the market today. CA shutting down again may have been a factor.

There was a big correction to high growth tech stocks on Monday. These four lost about 10% that day, and have come back a bit since then.B-Tender wrote: ↑Thu Jul 02, 2020 8:35 pmMarket is closed tomorrow.

amazon has been getting beat up the last few days. i know it jumped a shit ton in value lately, so i thought it was profit taking. but i wonder if there is more to the story.

Re: Normally I don't fux with stocks
I'm sure profit taking was part of it, especially as CA shut back down, and TX and FL numbers looked worrisome. Some people just wanted to lock in some profits.
