NFL Draft

#1

Post by beagleboy »

Does anyone really think this thing isn't going to be delayed? They've already cancelled all the fan events. The GM committee unanimously voted to delay it. Players haven't (supposedly) been making their scheduled visits. Seems like another of many instances of groups insisting something is happening until the last minute.

There's no need to hold the draft in an arena with 18,000 fans.

All the team reps can sit at home on their laptops, cell phones in hand, and Goodell can announce the picks from his fucking living room.

Just add a minute or two to each pick to account for the lag in communication.

The problem is the team's scouts and coaches haven't been able to travel to see players, helping them decide on their picks.

There's some worry that'll lead to bad choices.

The smarter teams have players in to interview the players. That hasn't happened this time. Prospects haven't even had physicals this time around yet. Goodell supposedly sent out a memo threatening anyone with disciplinary action if they talk negatively about holding the draft on time.

Bad choices? How much worse could the Lions drafting get?

NFL released a memo that teams will do their draft night from off site. Either their facilities or they will all work from their homes - depends upon local shelter in place rules.

This is going to be awesome. The Raiders will have some kids running around in the background of his of their free Zoom log in and the dog barking in the GMs basement.

Gronk requests trade to Bucs. Teams are working out a deal.

Edit: Supposedly finalized - Gronk and 7th rounder for a 4th.
