that's space x dropping off another load of those little satellites that they are fixing to make the global cell phone grid out of. they drop them off and at first they are lined up like that. then gradually, with each orbit, they get farther apart. it takes them a long time (days or maybe weeks and months) to finally get into their final positions.
Thanks. Since those satellites don't have any external lighting, the only way you are seeing that from the ground is the sun is still shining on them (even if it's just dark where you are) for you to see. Would love to see that.

It was mind boggling. I had never heard of them. It literally looked like a light train going into space. Definitely the neatest thing I've seen in the sky so far.
i have never been lucky enough to see them. i read about it around a year ago when they first started. i was kind of amazed that this HUGE project was going on and no one was talking about it. From what I remember they were going to send up over a dozen shipments to unload and spread out. i thought they were finished, but obviously not.
this cell system they are creating is supposed to make continuous cell service around the globe. Or, at least, that's what I remember reading.

Very cool. A lot better than the issue back in the 90's with the Iridium "flares". Pissed off astronomers worldwide. Every satellite manufacturer had to rethink it.

It was done by Motorola almost 30 years ago and is still active. Iridium. They made the mistake of going with an analog system when the future was obviously digital. Used today only in war zones and open oceans.
Berens. I don't think he spelled his that way but I knew of a barons(sp?) his wife was a teacher at my school, they lived right down the road from us. Right down the road from "old man" barons there was a pole barn owned by the father of those chubby minibike kids ,the one brother almost didn't have a penis. So one day I'm at the pole barn with the brother I hung around with and his dad was there. His dad was pretty cool. One time he let me and his son shoot his pistol I think it was a 44 ?something big I was probably 13 at the time and the thing was like a cannon. He spent an hour or so just going over safety basics and what not. So anyway, the guy had a sense of humor too. So my buddy says "dad tell him about old man barons" so he starts telling me barons wants to buy the pole barn and he starts to or is going to start to tell me what ever and he just says you've got to see him in action. Old man barons was a bit of an oddball and set in his ways etc. So we go down there and my buddy's dad is getting the old man flustered and finally old man starts slapping his ball sack with one hand and kind of scratching his ear really fast with the other hand and sort of going 'wwooo wwooo woo" some weird sound. You kind of had to be there. My buddy and I just about fell on the ground laughing. So dad says come on boys back in the truck,so we get in the truck and we're all laughing our asses off. The dad had tears coming out of his eyes and he kept saying "what did I tell you, what did I tell you". After that when I'd see the dad we'd both do our old man Barons imitation.Maybe I'll make a you tube video,it's hard to spell the sound he made and I don't think it was a spellable sound,if you know what I mean.
