I'll be 58 yo later this year, and my beautiful son will be 25 in a couple weeks. Still live west of Orlando in a little old ramshackle house in a little old ramshackle neighborhood. I'll probably die here, and if my wife has anything to do with it that may be in the next ten years or so. Then she'll be free to scatter my ashes around my beloved kumquat bushes. Which, along with my beloved banana trees, pineapple plants, and four cats, I love more than I love her. And she's cool with that. We have a good understanding. I've just put 26 years with a large company where I work as a network administrator, caring for a rancid mess of routers and switches and tangled patch cables. If not the wife, it'll be the job that winds up killing me. I'm OK with that.

For no good reason at all, I spend time playing the mandolin, learning to read Japanese, and will sit in a few weeks for my Extra class ham radio ticket.

Currently an Extra Class. When I'm able to play with the radios, I am on 50.125 or 14.070.

Cool! So was my dad, it's the only real reason I'm doing it. In his honor. He got it when there was still a 20wpm code test along with it, and he was all about the fast code. We have our local Hamcation 8 Feb, and I fully expect to fail it once or twice before the material is fully drilled into what might be referred to as my brains. I operate a bit of 2m every great while.

Not without a little help from my book. My set was actually made in 1971 and was my aunt Maria's first and then my aunt Michelle, then my Mom. Which is usually the very best way to acquire them.

There are 78 cards with such intricate meanings that it takes years and years of learning what each card; what each thing in each card represents. I got them when I was in my 20s and I'm still learning.

The only set that I really get is the Cups (love & friendships).

But I can do basic readings; yes/no questions, The Card of the Day/Month/Year, Past/Present/Future. I can also tell someone about their Key Card (which is the card that represents one's personality).

Yeah, I didn't realize how complicated it was to learn until recently. A long time ago, the mom of a girl i was dating had learned to read cards. Of course I was the most skeptical person alive, but I liked her mom and gave her a fair shot. I was amazed. She read me twice about two different subjects and I was just stunned at how similar the reading was to the topic that she knew nothing about.

I thought it would be cool to learn and googled it recently. My mind was blown at how difficult the whole subject is. I was also a little surprised how unavailable it is to buy sets of cards.
