So, I had an interesting day. My Playstation console went kaput 3 months ago. Shopping around, impossible to find one new and the refurbished ones on Amazon are like $50 more than what I paid for a new one years ago. Searching around I found a little gaming console repair business in SW San Antonio that had great reviews. Drove there today. Dinky store next to a dinky law office. Guys know their shit. 2 hours and $45 later it's fixed. Reminds me why I don't miss big city traffic- Holy hell. That entire area of SW San Antonio is the old Mexican part of town. I felt like I was in Monterrey. Went into HEB and I was almost the only white person there. Bright pink and fluorescent colored houses everywhere. Catholic churches and schools. Hard working and can start a Mom and Pop type operation in any kind of business like it's nobody's business. Every kind of business. Some pretty hot senoritas, too.

I only bitched about the traffic. Some idiot Mexican road gang decided 4 PM during rush hour on an on ramp to Loop 410 was the perfect time to do a little sand maintenance. And of course the next on-ramp was 5 miles and 3 lights.

No doubt I should upgrade to PS4 (years past due), but for several reasons. I don't play video games enough to justify the cost. I still have PS3 games I haven't even played and some (like skyrim)I've barely scratched. PS3 is just perfect for playing DVD/Blueray. And finally, if I upgrade to PS4, I'm looking at $200+ for the console and $20-40 a pop per game. Screw that.

All the games he has are for PS4, and we both very different tastes on gaming. So yea, a free if somewhat used PS4 is nice, buying all new copies of games I already have isn't. Not that the chance to actually mod Skyrim wouldn't be a boon, but it's the same fucking gameplay on either console. Sony could have put in a compatibility mode, but they didn't for an obvious financial reason. While the PS3 is old, it works, and gives me all I want.

Exactly. I remember when I bought my PS2 being very surprised that it also played the old PS1 games. Sony never made that mistake again. They learned their lesson from the printer business (give away the printer- jack the price of ink). From PS3-5, they sold their consoles at way below what it cost to make. Realized the money was in the games (software) not the consoles (hardware). Very smart.
