I wonder what the source for the info of this map is? I know California has a huge economy on its own (agriculture and entertainment), but I understood that if California were its own country, it'd only be in 9th or 10th place in world economies, not 4th. Still bigger than most European countries, though.

google a list of GDP rankings around the world. That's where it comes from. California is $3.9 trillion. USA is like $27 trillion. China is $17 trillion. etc.

It cuts through my town. So I've technically hiked parts of it but no plans to do the whole thing.

I do want to at least complete the John Muir Trail sometime though.

Mount Whitney from the Portal and Half Dome from Yosemite Valley. I have a long way to go. Lol.

The Eastern Sierras are worth at least one visit but give yourself at least a week and end up or start the trip through Yosemite Valley.

I snowboarded all day and then went into the lowlands after the last 2 days. Fishing, hiking, hot springs and great views of the towering Mountains.
