Seem to have a weird fetish with garlic.

Every other spice is described as season to taste, but not garlic.

Maybe they know a bunch of vampires.

Not even sure how many bulbs I have placed for the year, but it's more than 30.

Despite this being Florida where anything that doesn't need a cold-snap will grow, I just can't get garlic to take. Others in the Allium family like leeks grow fine, and I have a whole patch of wild chives that just won't die. But my garlic bulbs just curl up and snuff it.

But I have a nice corner of ginger growing, so I'm not that sad.
If you can't be a good example, you can still serve as a horrible warning.

The neighbours dog is watering it....

BTW, garlic fermented in unpasteurized honey for 2 weeks. Great for fighting off a cold and the honey is great for cooking or whatever.

I'm with ya on the garlic. I've been trying for years to no avail, while everyone around me does great. I do want to try and grow my own ginger, one of my daughters and I use the shit out of it. One thing I do get plenty of is asparagus, it just grows wild everywhere around here, especially in all of the orchards.

Ginger is super easy. Does great in a large pot and even better if you have a forested area you can use.

Someone implied to me that the reason California grows such nice garlic is due to their volcanic soil in many of their regions, and it grows best in salty air, so the best garlic grows there by the ocean. Florida hasn't had a volcano around in like a billion years, and I can't get salt air in Orlando even with a hurricane. Besides, like eggs, is the cost and time really worth it? I can walk to the nearest Bravo market and buy either cheap enough.

I don't know that it's any secret or "hack", but loosely packed citrus/cactus soil and lots of water and sun make for an abundance of ginger. I grow it in the same pots as my Key limes, and they leave each other alone. But ginger grows slowly. Ginger keeps the slugs off the lime bushes.
