Anybody here done it?

I'm just gearing up to make rum.

Purchased a 10 gallon still and have 2-5kg jugs of black strap molasses coming.
Be careful when you follow the masses. Sometimes the "M" is silent

I did once. Made a bad batch of pumpkin mead and left it sitting in the bottles hoping it would clear up. It never did and one day I had some copper tubing and an old pressure cooker come into the scrap yard... long story short I ended up making a pumpkin spice moonshine. Be careful when you're taking your cuts. You don't want methal alcohol to make the main body, the side effects are killer.

Those of us who worked as lab assistants in college for the doctoral chemistry candidates did, at least on a small scale. Any time we got new glass equipment, we'd take it out for a test drive making and testing simple distillations using beer. We quickly learned what heads and tails were, and never made anything worth drinking much of. But we did it anyway.
