Chuck Mangione not Feelin' So Good

All the news from the peanut gallery and where all the nasty trash talk fails miserably.
It can get NSFW-ish here: you have been warned!

Saw him three times back in Houston in the 80's, it was a hell of a show every time. It was back during a time when good musicianship was fully recognized on its own, you did't have to be an actor and dancer to get the thin veneer of your musicianship across. You were top notch on your game and that's all that mattered to an adoring audience. He was a wonderful horn *and* piano player, along with a sax or two, bass, and drummer that were masters on their axes. And his dad sold merch out in the lobby, but always had time to talk about his son and stuff with whoever had a question.

Sad, I had another chance to see him about ten years ago and missed it. I still have that album and another couple that were no less as great.

Side note: the guitarist on that album played with a thick but shaped piece of flat rock, that's what gave him that special "clanky" sound to his playing.
If you can't be a good example, you can still serve as a horrible warning.

Well, i can play a flugel horn. My main instrument was the trumpet, but I can also play the coronet, french horn, standard bugle, two valve bugle and the baritone.

In highschool music class in the late 70's we watched a tape of his.

Then myself (bari sax), a clarinet player and a trumpet player got together and played 3 of his songs by ear. Those were the days.

I saw him at Melody Fair in the late 70’s jazz isn’t my thing but his performance didn’t have me looking at my watch every few minutes
