ZZ top drummer dead at 77. Thought he deserved his own thread . One hard rockin' sumbitch. That documantary a while back, i think he said he got a check for 17000 and spent it all on drugs. Spokke of taking LSD, ( i think it may have been some other drug?) "like a vacation for your brain. 77 years old and had been in hospice care. But ZZ top isn't taking much time off, cancelled a few shows and then hit the road again.
I don't think I have to remind you at the degualo (sp?) tour, back around 1980 I passed out from too much weed and old Billings was kicking me in the head and telling me to quit faking it, at least that's what Billings said happened. I sure don't remember that part.

Seen them in Charlotte a few times back in the 80's... last time I saw them all together they were playing at Harrah's Cherokee Casino back about 2010.
Still kicking ass and taking names.

i saw them here in michigan not too long after the pandemic ban was lifted. I had just a cheap seat by myself and they had the 5500 seat arena set up as about a 2500 seat arrangement, then a lady that worked there asked if I wanted to move to the floor because floor seats were only about half filled, so they moved me to scond row in front of billy gibbons. I told her the story of what happened to me when I saw them in about 1980 and she said "and you lived" I said "yeah I just ate a couple salt tablets and all was good". But it was a good show, his playing style for they rythm stuff he doesn't really move his fingers much, I've always thought his style was kind of a "less is more" approach. I like beer drinkers and hell raisers, motorhead also did a cover of that a long time ago.
