Question for you geniuses
Bermuda is located at 32.3078 N, 64.750 W. A rocket is at 32.35 N, 67.58 W at an altitude of 113 miles.
Where do I look to see it? How high in the sky is it?

Look to the west north west, and a about 45 degrees in the sky. Or look for the exhaust trail.

so, in other words, look toward where they are launching it?WestTexasCrude wrote: ↑Mon Feb 17, 2020 8:54 pm Kinda this. Not sure of the altitude angle, but look due West and then look about 10 degrees of the compass North of there.

Re: Question for you geniuses
The launch this past Saturday was a daytime launch but for future reference, with the rocket traveling at 13,000 mph I do want to start looking in the right direction as it won't be visible for long day or night.WestTexasCrude wrote: ↑Mon Feb 17, 2020 9:24 pmWhat scares me is if Wut is talking a nighttime launch.Flumper wrote: ↑Mon Feb 17, 2020 8:56 pmso, in other words, look toward where they are launching it?WestTexasCrude wrote: ↑Mon Feb 17, 2020 8:54 pm Kinda this. Re: Question for you geniuses
Over the years I've seen satellites streaking silently across the night sky, Once saw the Shuttle (Space station ?) after sundown brightly lit because it was trailing something miles behind it on a tether (Don't remember why). But the most impressive Space thing I've ever seen was back in the late 1990's. Was living NE of Austin, Tx. Because of the mission or trajectory, a Space Shuttle was Reentering with their heat shields right over head heading for a Florida landing 2 hours after dark. Told neighbors and probably 40 gathered to check it out. Had no idea what to expect. Holy crap. Huge trail of fire (silent of course) from horizon to horizon. A fist raised at arm length would barely cover it. Blew me away.Wut wrote: ↑Mon Feb 17, 2020 10:16 pmMore frequent than summertime. Did you expect to hear people screaming? Perhaps a prolonged fart as the satellites attack by. Can you picture it? *Tttthhhhhppppppptttt!* "Oh! Hey! CNN's Satellite just went overhead!"WestTexasCrude wrote: ↑Mon Feb 17, 2020 10:55 pmOver the years I've seen satellites streaking silently across the night sky, Once saw the Shuttle (Space station ?) after sundown brightly lit because it was trailing something miles behind it on a tether (Don't remember why). Re: Question for you geniuses
Find the direction of where the rocket is launching and where you are on Google Maps. You should be able to determine the compass point from that and then use one of these:Wut wrote: ↑Mon Feb 17, 2020 11:12 pmSo how do I find where 32.35 etc is from where I am standing?megman wrote: ↑Mon Feb 17, 2020 10:42 pmWell it did take a genius to realize that you did answer your own question.
