I knew nobody would believe me. But I'll be damned if I provide any form of proof to an intrernet porn site.

My good fortune is pure dumb luck. My ex-employer decided to change who was handling their 401. Moving from Fidelity to who knows. Since I'm retired I got out of the employer and went to one of my own with Fidelity. This was just before the Covid drop off. I havent moved the cash in Fidelity to a mutual fund yet so the cash is sitting there.

Fidelity wanted me to start ramping down when I turned 55. I figured, as long as the economy seems to running on overdrive, I'd keep my account in high gear and let it build up. I guess I'll have to do that any way now. Should I ramp it down now, you think? Or do I risk it sliding down even further if I leave it at a higher risk?B-Tender wrote: ↑Mon Mar 23, 2020 6:46 pmAlso as he gets within 4-5 years of planned retirement, more of the money should be in safer equities.Flumper wrote: ↑Mon Mar 23, 2020 4:51 pm i would think of it like this. when this is over, it will rebound and within a short time (year or so) you should see around half of that money come back. If you can't be a good example, you can still serve as a horrible warning.

I'm in the same position with a small fund I have. I left employment with a retirement account and it was put into an interest bearing account until I told them where to put it so I left it there.Antknot wrote: ↑Mon Mar 23, 2020 7:12 pm My good fortune is pure dumb luck. you are finding yourself in the conundrum that has always been in place. when people are young and should be taking risks, they don't want to tie up their money in investments that they don't understand. so they get cd's if anything at all. when people get older and understand how markets work and money grows they want to be in the high risk/high reward investments to try to build as big of a nest as possible in a short period of time.QillerDaemon wrote: ↑Mon Mar 23, 2020 7:22 pmFidelity wanted me to start ramping down when I turned 55. It's just the opposite of how it should be done.

My 401k is right where it's at when I locked it in when it was at an all time high.
I'm still not compelled to go back in the market even though I made a mint when it was hot.
Maybe Necro, Biker or Cheezy will tell me when it's best to reinvest. I know who knows something around here.

As opposed to a Canadian worrying over the US stock market. Just admit it, total cuck. We will allow you to exist economically until you piss us off. I've heard moose antlers moltings catch a prime price in China. Let the rush begin.

Re: Looked at your 401k lately?
on a side note, about the same time as the stock markets were bottoming out I was getting ready to make a small overseas online purchase and the vendor only had bitcoin available for me to pay. I opened an account with Coinbase and dropped in 350.00 bucks. After the Covid-19 really started kicking in before I completed the sale the vendor temporarily suspended business....that was about 10 or so days ago. That 350 is now at 489. Not bad.....I just might let it hang out there and see what it does for shits and giggles

Re: Looked at your 401k lately?
Does anyone here have any opinion about Annuities? I have two Financial Advisors heavily recommending that I pull out of my 401k's & go that route. I'm starting to read up & learn more about it but I still have a ways to go. The problem I have with my Financial Advisors is that there seems to be a conflict of interest. Of course they want you to invest in things where they make the highest commission but that doesn't necessarily mean they're the best choice.
