is not a king and he does not control the purse, that is controlled by congress. however, he does not have to spend any or all of the appropriated funds on what the funds were appropriated for. which is exactly what he said two years ago. He was not going to build another inch of wall. and he would only spend some of the appropriated funds on drainage or roads or other necessary stuff related to the wall since that was part of the appropriated purpose, but NO WALL. And he would return the rest unspent.
are you saying that he never said that? I mean its documented. it has zero to do with him being a king or who holds the purse strings.

Biden to Return Diverted Border Wall Money, Spend Down Rest
Biden plans to return more than $2 billion that the Trump administration diverted from the Pentagon to help pay for the wall and use other money appropriated by Congress to address "urgent life, safety and environmental issues" created by the construction. It also asks lawmakers not to provide any additional funding for what the Biden team believes is an unnecessary effort.
He plans, he wants Congress to redirect funds already appropriated towards projects that won't work towards better options, Congress won't, so he has to do what they passed. Can he unilaterally override and tell the country what we are going to do? Like say for example, if he vetoes something and Congress overrides him, is he going to still decree and dictate via his veto? Come on, bud, you're getting there and you're doing so by engaging with facts. Aren't you proud of yourself? Maybe you'll wash that stink of not knowing how fraud works off of you.

literally every headline on the internet today is about how Biden has completely reversed course and done exactly what he said that he would never do. I'm not attempting to get you to admit it, I'm just helping you point out how you fucking stupid you are.

Presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden says if elected, he would not tear down the parts of the barrier along the U.S. Southern border built during the Trump administration — but he would cease construction.
"There will not be another foot of wall constructed on my administration, Not 1," he told NPR's Lulu Garcia-Navarro during an interview with journalists from the National Association of Black Journalists and National Association of Hispanic Journalists.
"I'm going to make sure that we have border protection, but it's going to be based on making sure that we use high-tech capacity to deal with it. And at the ports of entry — that's where all the bad stuff is happening," the former vice president said during the virtual interview on Tuesday.
The Biden administration has fast tracked plans to resume building a barrier along the US-Mexico border, in an admission of the severity of the migrant crisis.
Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas quietly announced late Wednesday that 20 miles of wall will be built in the Rio Grande Valley in Southeast Texas, citing an “acute and immediate need to construct physical barriers” to prevent more people from entering the country illegally.
“The United States Border Patrol’s Rio Grande Valley Sector is an area of ‘high illegal entry,’ ” said Mayorkas. “Therefore, I must use my authority . . . to install additional physical barriers and roads in the Rio Grande Valley Sector.”
Biden repeatedly voiced his opposition to the wall while running in 2020, saying: “There will not be another foot of wall construction in my administration.”
