That kind of seems like California in a nutshell. In many ways its the perfect state yet in many ways it really really isnt.
I've been a little concerned over what is going to happen in San Diego since the city council is now 9 Dems and 0 Reps. and the mayor is now a Dem. One good thing that has happened is they have passed a homeless encampment ban. This surprised me. It will be interesting to see how it is enforced.
Isn't San Diego the last bastion of Sanity in Cali.?B-Tender wrote: ↑Wed Jun 28, 2023 7:30 pmI've been a little concerned over what is going to happen in San Diego since the city council is now 9 Dems and 0 Reps. and the mayor is now a Dem. When it comes to the coastal regions, probably. San Diego used to be a pretty middle of the road city politically, but it has drifted left.Ricrude wrote: ↑Wed Jun 28, 2023 8:01 pmIsn't San Diego the last bastion of Sanity in Cali.?B-Tender wrote: ↑Wed Jun 28, 2023 7:30 pmI've been a little concerned over what is going to happen in San Diego since the city council is now 9 Dems and 0 Reps. and the mayor is now a Dem. The main exodus has been from the working middle class. If you are very poor, there are a lot of state funded programs for housing, food, and medical. If you are wealthy, it doesn't matter. A family of four will probably struggle to get by making less than $120K/year(unless they live with extended family). They can do it, but likely won't be buying a home, or fully funding their retirement.Ricrude wrote: ↑Wed Jun 28, 2023 8:43 pmB-Tender wrote: ↑Wed Jun 28, 2023 8:30 pmRicrude wrote: ↑Wed Jun 28, 2023 8:01 pmIsn't San Diego the last bastion of Sanity in Cali.?B-Tender wrote: ↑Wed Jun 28, 2023 7:30 pmI've been a little concerned over what is going to happen in San Diego since the city council is now 9 Dems and 0 Reps. and the mayor is now a Dem. It amazes me what people in the state will put up with from their government. I've heard about a low-key exodus of people who cannot afford to live their anymore. With fuel, income taxes, property taxes and lack of services...Is it true?
My brother tells me every time we talk - "I gotta get the fuck out of this state." He's in Chula Vista. It's pretty, but fucking hell there are entirely too many people there. And fuck their gun laws.Ricrude wrote: ↑Wed Jun 28, 2023 8:43 pmB-Tender wrote: ↑Wed Jun 28, 2023 8:30 pmRicrude wrote: ↑Wed Jun 28, 2023 8:01 pmIsn't San Diego the last bastion of Sanity in Cali.?B-Tender wrote: ↑Wed Jun 28, 2023 7:30 pmI've been a little concerned over what is going to happen in San Diego since the city council is now 9 Dems and 0 Reps. and the mayor is now a Dem. That sucks from such a progressive state. Found this...was interesting.B-Tender wrote: ↑Wed Jun 28, 2023 9:08 pmThe main exodus has been from the working middle class. Did my basic in San Diego and had relatives that lived in Chula Vista....they left there about 15 years ago citing the higher COL in California and border concerns.squirt wrote: ↑Thu Jun 29, 2023 12:00 amMy brother tells me every time we talk - "I gotta get the fuck out of this state."
