For our 1st anniversary I commissioned a pencil drawing of my wife for her gift. It's excellent. It almost looks like a photograph.

I think that we have all seen these kinds of paintings and I don't really get them either. If there is any merit to them at all, to me, it is the fact that they seem to uniformly spread the colors out so that there isn't one specific part that draws your attention. It doesn't look like there is too much red here or too little blue here, etc. Other than that, it seems to be people attempting to give meaning to a waste of time.
