There used to be a guy at all the concerts here back in the 80's, he was probably about 50 and I think all he did was walk the corridor and drink beer and piss his pants. Hmmm...

Now if those brass balls began to contract with temperature change, i'm not sure even that configuration would lead to any spilling out. the change would be slow enough that the balls would adjust inward and remain in that same stacked pattern.

Update. If the brass monkey is thin enough and the cannon balls are large enough in mass, then the brass could contract fast enough to spill the cannon balls.

Correct. And it's just the monkey that is made of brass, not the cannon balls. Those are usually either iron or lead, neither of which expand/contract at the same, faster rate of the brass.

Personally, I think this and others similar actions by Trump and Musk are distractions to wear out the opposition.

On this, there was simply no reason for it. It's been the Gulf of Mexico longer than there's been a country of Mexico, originally New Spain.
