I think they're trying to redefine racism.

They try so hard to make something a crisis for their own purposes, and the effort cheapens the instances where real, severe and intolerable racism occurs. Sort of a "sky is falling" that can result in people not responding anymore when the real thing happens. IMO self-defeating, especially if they keep ramping up the rhetoric in order to get a response.
