Problem is a LOT of them are flashing like strobe lights. LOL I am serious though it's crazy. Then again we just need to wait a couple weeks and some lovely Detroit residents will steal the copper wire from them and boom back to the dark ages.

interesting. From what I can tell there is not one single thing inside fiber optic cable that has any scrap value. People throw tons of that shit away.

You gotta hand it to them though, it's a lot of work. The fiber is armored cable and there's a metal messenger running through its core. Nothing short of a good hacksaw and 10 minutes of hard work will do.

Back in the day we would hire security guards to watch reels that had to be left in the field overnight. But the price of fiber cable has dropped to the point that it's not really necessary anymore. If it gets cut we just install a splice FOSC and the company puts in an insurance claim.
