Thats it in a nutshell. Lots of everyday folks through a reddit group selectively targeted short sellers who had shorted Gamestop. They collectively forced the stock of Gamestock up via the market which in turn fucked the short sellers who were betting the stock would tank.

apparently you were right. i heard Gamestop went over $600 today and American Airlines was up $40 this morning. Which, I assume, is overnight trading. I don't think the markets are open yet.

So, there is an app called Robinhood that these day traders use to help them pull off what they did the past few days to Gamestop. And now the company that owns Robinhood is imposing some restrictions to try to control this kind of thing.

Meanwhile...... Joe Biden's newly confirmed Treasury Secretary is Janet Yellen. And in the past couple of years Janet Yellen has gotten $810,000 in speaking fees from a company called Citadel. Citadel is the company that stepped in and bailed out ($3 BILLION) a big hedge fund called Melvin Capital which saw MASSIVE losses after shorting Gamestop. The owner of Citadel also owns much of the stock in Robinhood.

These are big amounts of money being tossed around.
