I've been in hospital in Toronto for 9 days now. I'm good.
Muskoka, where I live, is a much different story.

Spelling Conventions in Canadian English
Canadian English favors a mix of British and American spelling. In Canada, for example, the word “favor” would be spelled “favour,” which is the same as in the UK.
Some key spelling conventions are summarized below. Canadian English:
Prefers -ize and -yze word endings (e.g., organize and analyze)
Uses -our at the end of some words instead of -or (e.g., colour or favour)
Take -re instead of -er at the end of many words (e.g., centre or fibre)
Uses -ce instead of –se at the end of some words (e.g., defence or offence)
Distinguishes between noun and verb forms of some words (e.g., practice and practise)
Doubles the final “l” in words when adding a vowel suffix (e.g., traveller or cancelled)
Prefers the British English spelling for terms that contain -ae- or -oe- (e.g. anaesthetic)
Uses -ogue instead of -og at the end of certain words (e.g., catalogue)

fortunately this policy is in a country with very few assets worth saving.
Hopefully the tar sands are surrounded by firemen.

Can't put them all out. So unless infrastructure is threatened then ya, let it burn. And the forest actually recovers fairly quickly.

Actually, fires occur naturally (in this case most apparently started from lighting strikes), and it wasn't 'til recently that scientists discovered that fires are actually necessary for normal forest ecology.
It's part of why Smokey Bear says "To Prevent Wildfires" now instead of "Prevent Forest Fires." When the underbrush etc gets too dense, forestry management folks actually set controlled burns.

Fuckin A. WTF, Canada?
Its bad enough we have to deal with you sending us your God-forsaken frigid arctic air every winter now we have to deal with this smoke too. Officials have recommended everyone stay indoors for about the last 3 or 4 days now. Its hazy AF right now.

A friend up the road had a bear break-in to his freezer in his garage and ate all his ice cream.

Up here in the Northwestern parts of Jersey they're a problem too. Regularly have to drive around garbage cans that "Yogi" pilfered the night before.
Even had to hide behind a tree when momma bear came charging when I walked between her and her cub on a hike.

I've seen a few down south here but we rarely have issues with them...They are more protected here. Down in N. Myrtle Beach, SC they have walkways for bears under the roads next to the marshes on International Drive.
