Maybe in N Texas. Not in W Texas. They have to have heat and moisture. The Last is the problem they have out there. I stand by my statementAnimal wrote: ↑Tue Sep 12, 2023 9:38 pmyou need to get out more. you will find them anywhere you look in north texas.CentralTexasCrude wrote: ↑Tue Sep 12, 2023 9:21 pmThey aren't. That's just where they have been found. From my experience here (less than 100 miles from Mexico), a couple of years of drought or unusual cold Winters, and they get hammered bad. The only place I see them here are places that run sprinkler systems.

i know fire ants have infested all of west texas in the north half of the state (panhandle and out toward abilene, etc. the quail hunting went to shit the past 30 years or so and they blame it on the fire ants killing the quail.

There’s a guy that pours molten metal down termite mounds to document the structure of them. Something like that would work on it and heal.CentralTexasCrude wrote: ↑Wed Sep 13, 2023 9:05 pmOr a car bomb parked next to the nestRicrude wrote: ↑Wed Sep 13, 2023 8:49 pmOn Sicily...the recommended pest removal tool is a shotgun.CentralTexasCrude wrote: ↑Tue Sep 12, 2023 12:08 amWell hell. All ants use pheromone like chemicals to alert their nests to food, dangers etc. In Austin 20 years ago I saw those fire ants take it to a whole new level- maybe it was the tall trees in their rainforest habitat. End of day office Friday, we had a birthday party for someone. Tons of birthday cake left over. Someone left it on the counter instead of putting it in the fridge.

Re: Take that Europe!
I was first in Monday morning. What a site. A fire ant nest had found the cake on the 4 foot counter. A long line of ants. BUT they had split up. Tons of ants were on the counter taking the cake apart and dropping it over the edge for the ants below. Pile of cake almost 6 inches tall on the floor that the other ants were hauling away
