If something happens in politics that hurts their feelings, then its bad.
Doesnt matter if that political decision was common sense or the right thing to do, their feelings is all that matters
What was that about Charley Kirk?
You mean the guy that a trans dating mentally ill Lefty and Furry murdered? That guy?

The only reason. I joined the original UJ was to voice my opposition to the Iraq War w/ out being called a terrorist by friends and family members.

The rhetoric has gotten progressively worse from both sides to where we are today.

I was at a City Council meeting last night listening to a business owner call the council communists and lefty wingbuts because the city put a bench and trash cans outside his oce cream shop at taxpayer's expense.

I only talk politics here and anonymously on X.

For the life of me I can't understand why any normal rational person would go into politics anymore. The rising temperature and the idiots on both sides are simply not worth it IMHO. Recently we had a local school board member, a fucking school board member, get publicly threatened because she didn't rubber stamp some ridiculous expenditure the district wanted. I think this plays a big part in why we get such extremists in the political field anymore. Rational people want nothing to do with it and sadly I think it will only get worse.

I think that the normal and rational people quit getting into politics back in the 1700 and 1800's. And they did a fantastic job of creating the foundation of our government. The problem is the same one that business owners face. You have to be very careful creating rules because once they are created the employees will figure out how to manipulate those rules in their favor. And over time they will exploit those rules in their favor so much so that it begins to erode the entire business model. That's where we are at with government and politics.
