i think her idea on the grass was only intended to keep the silt from washing across her patio. Which it will do

Work decorative brick in slightly higher than the dirt's surface then hide plastic edging behind it. Do this while tight wearing shorts and it will work.

Yes, which is why I seconded the grass idea. It won't stop the water but will stop the mud.

Until she controls the water and where it goes planting seed grass is a waste of time and money. Getting a grass sod roll is more efficient and immediate result.

When I do this once it warms up, I'll be in a kilt. My Mexican neighbor chick will love it.

It's still too cold for me to wear my kilt for yard work. About to get nailed workgroup a snowstorm anyway.
