The USS Roosevelt lost one sailor during the 2020 covid outbreak before vaccinations were a thing. I couldn't find a for sure report if that death was from covid or just incident to the timeline.

Not all that much difference statistically. I think the chances of getting "really sick" are about 1 in 100,000 for a healthy 20 year old. So, that's how many people have a bomb in their pocket. Obviously the odds of getting a text are in no way related to coming into contact with a person with the virus, but both are entirely random enough to at least be understandable.
The point is that if you are one of the 1 in 100,000 that gets really sick, you don't know it until you get sick. Same with the bomb, you don't know you have a bomb in your pocket until it goes off.
