Dukakis spoke fluent Spanish (and Greek) in the '88 election, and the right lost their mind over it. "Who does he represent?!"
But it was perfectly fine for Jeb to do so during his very brief run. (His wife was born a Mexican citizen and still speaks with a heavy accent)

Dukakis was almost 40 years ago. I don't recall anybody bitching about Jeb! speaking Spanish. In fact, I think it was celebrated mostly.
No R's that I know of would have any issue whatsoever if Marco went on a Spanish rant. His bona fides check out.

I know of no politician in Florida that doesn’t speak Spanish
