Lucky you. When I was getting braces, I think I was 17, had go to an oral surgeon. Had 8 teeth pulled. 4 embedded wisdom teeth & the 4 teeth behind my incisors. It all started out easy enough. I sat in the seat and they gave me like a little shot glass of something. It was horrible, smelled and tasted like swamp water Then they to hold onto this little, sort of kidney bean shaped stainless steel tray. Then the Dr shot me up with a ton of Novocaine .
Then the yanking started. He would throw the pulled teeth into the tray. Reminded of the old westerns and them spitting into the spittoons. "Ka-pling, ka-pling". When he got to the wisdom teeth, he used the coarsest drill bit possible and ground down the crown. Jesus, my whole head rattled. Then he pulled the various roots out. "Ka-pling, ka-pling".

He had started on the left side and by the time he got to the right side, the Novocaine was starting to wear off. He started yanking on the lower jaw tooth and it hurt like hell. I actually grabbed his arm and told him to stop. He gave me some more shots and got that tooth out. The last tooth was the worst, Top jaw, right side, tooth behind the incisor. He just pulled and pulled. It would not come out. He was even telling me, "Pull back, man!" Jesus Christ.!

By the time it was over, I was so worn out. My Mom just took me home and gave me a big bowl of ice cream. I finished it, placed it on my knee, and promptly fell asleep. When I woke up, the dang bowl was still on my knee, lol, I must not have moved at all. At that point, I went up to the bathroom and pulled out the wadding in my mouth because it was soaded with blood and gross.

Luckily, I didn't swell up too much. Had a bit of bruising the next couple of days.

FFS!! that sounds awful. I had extensive orthodontics also. I had to wear bottom braces for a whole year before getting the top. Wore head gear at night, rubber bands for about 3 years. After I got them removed I had nightmares for about 5 years that I was still at the orthodontist getting them tightened.
