I remember back in the mid 80's on a trip from Houston to New Orleans with several friends, someone took out a cassette of whatever the latest U2 album was. I didn't think either good or bad of the band, they just "were", something to listen to. Someone else mentioned - ya know, you listen to one U2 song, you've pretty much listened to every one of them. That's stuck with me all these years, U2 is the pop version of ACDC.
