It's unlikely the virus does much in the US this year (unless it can live through the heat of summer), it'll be next year that it becomes an issue. If this is the flu that is common next year it'll be a very big deal.

I wear those 3M cartridge masks at times with my work. I don't think they'll be wearing them for very long (though they do have good dust filters, they also have vapor/organic filters and that makes them even harder to breath through).

Granted, it seems like a virus that's about as serious as influenza right now, but even if that's true, it could kill a lot of people (especially the old and folks that already have other health issues).
