Mrs. CHEEZY and I were talking about death and funerals, cremation etc one day and she basically shut me right up after I told her I didnt want a big funeral or burial or anything like that when I die. She looked me square in the eye and said "It's not about you at that point. It's about giving your family members an opportunity to properly grieve. They've already lost you don't take that away from them too."disco.moon wrote: ↑Fri Oct 08, 2021 8:58 pmAgreed. I'm all for cremation, but I'm intrigued by the burial process and how people hang on to sorrow. I should have gotten a pic of the huge mosoleum (?) There. It was like marble and had the family name on it. There had to be maybe six caskets in there. When you're in the cemetery you can tell the old school people who had the money in town. The obelisks from the Victorian era are my favorites.Reservoir Dog wrote: ↑Fri Oct 08, 2021 8:48 pmI'm always amazed at how much money some people will spend just to bury someone.disco.moon wrote: ↑Fri Oct 08, 2021 3:54 pm I can't remember if I shared this. A couple years ago my father died. His wife......who nobody liked for various reasons.........had him cremated. She didn't want his ashes so I said I would take them. Now mind you this woman married the guy just a couple years prior and was sole beneficiary of his money. He wasn't rich but she got a couple hundred thousand from him.
I get the ashes of my dead father in the mail........in a fucking cardboard box. She didn't even have the decency to put him in a nice urn or something.......just shipped him off like he was an Amazon delivery. It really fucked me up for a couple days.

The guy at the funeral home told WTC that he couldn't be cremated. They said they were afraid they might not be able to put the fire out.
