Comedy: Young Frankenstein/NL's Vacation
Action: Demolition Man/Independence Day
Drama: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly/Godfather I/II
Horror: The Omen/Silence of the Lambs
Random: Goodfellas/Casino/Die Hard
I saw Casino recently. Damn, that movie has some brutal scenes. That scene where they take Joe Pesci and his brother out in the corn field and kill them is hard to watch. Great movie, though. One of my favorites.
Goodfellas is also in my top list of movies. Ray Liotta was great in that.
The cornfield scene is brutal. Goodfellas is excellent. The Pittsburgh connection that they talk about in it involved a few guys that lived near me, I knew of them but didn’t know them but made the connection of them to the book and then the movie after reading the book “Wiseguys” and then seeing the movie.
Little story about them; when I was in my teens my friends and I hung out at the edge of a parking lot surrounded by woods. That’s where we did our drinking and drugs and hung out, and others would come around and party with us. A few friends were known to sell Quaaludes and one night two older guys came up with shotguns looking to rob us of our drugs. The guys with the drugs hid them and two of our group got punched a few times and the guys with the guns left without getting anything.
We heard a few months later that the guys who tried to rob us were identified and got their asses beat. We didn’t know who did it but it was suspected that the Pittsburgh connection guys took care of them, looking out for us neighborhood kids.
so they were like a hidden police force taking care of their neighborhood and you had no idea they were even watching? that kind of cool and creepy at the same time.

We knew they were into some higher level drug sales and we were basically street punks selling drugs to each other, so our worlds didn’t cross but apparently they thought the older guys had no business fucking with us and let them know. It was cool that there was someone out there that took care of it and it was also notice that there are people out there that you don’t want to fuck with.

Well I say, that is uncommonly decent of you to say so old chap! I’d invite you round for tea but this ghastly virus curfuffle has somewhat stymied socialising. That and you’re on the wrong side of the pond with an orange president thats fucking with the golf courses of my homeland! Anyhoo, I trust you and yours are staying safe.

I don't have an orange president, but I'll take you up on that tea (I'll bring the Islay scotch). And I get to wear my kilt!

I see you joined UJR pretty early (Jan-19). Were you in old UJ? Apologies if you were, It's been so long ago, I've forgotten most of the people on there.
