Moneyball.
Huh, he finally went to a team that wanted him to be a starter, like he's always wanted apparently. Good luck!8-TrackJones wrote: ↑Tue Dec 20, 2022 1:36 am Seth Lugo to Padres 2 years $15 million.

Congrats to Carpenters agent.
among all players in 2022 with at least 150 plate appearances overall, Carpenter led the big leagues in OPS (1.138) and slugging percentage (.727), just ahead of former teammate and the AL MVP award winner, Aaron Judge (posted a 1.111 OPS and .686 SLG)
The Mutts are now $124 million into the tax and they only have 34 players signed!Burn1dwn wrote: ↑Wed Dec 21, 2022 1:56 pm Wow. Giants delay Correa signing over medical dispute...Mets grab him for 12 years at $315 million.

So that means they have to put $124 million into the pool to be shared by other teams? I don't really understand the luxury tax in MLB. No, they won't pay $124 million. They'll pay a percentage of that. This is the Mutts 2nd consecutive year going over the tax so they'll pay 30% of $124 million. (that will rise to 50% next year)Burn1dwn wrote: ↑Wed Dec 21, 2022 2:05 pmSo that means they have to put $124 million into the pool to be shared by other teams? And because they are more than $60 million over the tax they will also pay a 60% surcharge.
