its a floating trailerhood.
Like they say: I guess they don't make 'em like they used to... Quick and pointless story in jsdspif style: six years ago or so, I had a guy rear-end my poor car. I had a nice Prius, still low mileage, company provided. I had a trailer van pull into my lane, so I had to lay on the brakes, and the guy behind me couldn't quite stop in time. The whole back third of the Prius crumpled up like an accordion, totaled. He was driving a pristine 1961 F-150 pickup, same as my birth year. Not many miles, almost brand new inside and out, all original appointments. He hit me about 45mph, and all his truck suffered was a bent front grill and a nasty ding in the front bumper. Beautiful truck, and he was driving it to his son's house to give it to him. Nice guy and he was really sorry he hit me, so I convinced the cop not to give him a ticket, weirdest thing the cop ever had an injured party ask. The trailer driver was given two illegal U-turn tickets, almost guaranteed he'd have his CDL suspended. Something about recycled tank metal went into those trucks.

There used to be a thing in Grand Rapids Michigan I think they called it grand river raft race. I'm not sure who started it but it was basicly a pretty big party of people floating down the river in what ever but alot of the floating vessels were pretty elaborate. I did it one year ,I know the Billings were there along with a few others of our group,we all just had an innertube for ourselves and innertubes to have the coolers in. It was kind of like being at a rock concert as far as the partying went. Late 70's early 80's. Alot of drinking and smoking dope. They finally quit doing it when one year a guy somehow broke his neck, don't remember now if it killed him or paralyzed him but that was the last year they had it. I know the year we went it wasn't all that warm and the water was cold.At least it helped keep the beer cold. For some reason I took a portable battery powered tv with me. Don't remember why I did that.

They do a similar thing on this side of the sate where Lake Huron narrows down and feeds the St. Clair river. People gather at the mouth and then just float down the river. Some take it all the way to lake St. Clair. Basically a huge party with all kinds of crazy shenanigans where you'll find lots of strange floatation devices.jsdspif wrote: ↑Wed Mar 03, 2021 1:13 pmThere used to be a thing in Grand Rapids Michigan I think they called it grand river raft race.
