P.S. And thanks for the info BRR, and glad you seem to be getting better
i don't know what yall's air quality has been like (Don't know what part of the states you are in), but a shit ton of people down here have had sore throats from all the saharan dust and allergies in the air this year (mostly in the past few weeks). I haven't heard the term "sore throat" more that I have in the last week or 2.

not like strep throat sore. just kind of sore, like its on the way to that. at least that's how everyone has described it. i guess its getting so much attention since everyone assumes its covid.
This is the first time I have ever heard about Saharan Dust. Is this something you guys deal with every year?
It has been all over the news. A major dust storm was carried across the Atlantic. I do not think it is common.

https://scitechdaily.com/godzilla-dust- ... e-station/
Wow. That is crazy. Cool link.
Winds routinely drive clouds of Saharan dust out of West Africa and across the Atlantic Ocean in the summer. But the intensity and extent of a plume that departed Africa in June 2020 was so great that it had internet meme-makers buzzing about a “Godzilla” dust cloud.
Just weird that never heard of it until this year and I took 3 geology courses in college.
on a radar the winds that carry that dust across the Atlantic look almost like a Hurricane. I'm sure the way they are developed is the exact same principal. I have heard of them off and on through my life. This is the first one that got this much news that I can remember in a long time. Maybe Texas just gets more of the fallout. I would guess that the places that feel the effects are the exact same places that get the most impact from the hurricanes that start off the coast of Africa and move into the Gulf or the lower East Coast.

Sounds like they may be "vaccine" for hurricanes:
BRR's link wrote:Air pollution experts are not the only specialists who are closely following this event. Meteorologists track dust storms because the dry, dusty air can inhibit the formation of clouds and prevent hurricanes.
So all we need is a big powerful fan to put on the eastern side of the Sahara Desert to prevent another Katrina? Let's start a gofundme.

i damn sure never heard (or would have thought) that the soil on Bermuda is made up of Saharan dust. Other than the murky skies, bright sunsets, and people complaining about breathing, I have never noticed any dust on anything around here.

now when the winds bring west texas dust into the Fort Worth area, I damn sure notice dust on everything after that.

So I haven't heard of anyone that I know that died of COVID but I just heard of an association affiliate that died of "walking phemonia" (negative on 3 covid tests) because they could not find an ICU bed for him. He was on a ventilator but needed a higher Level bed/care. They were reserving the unused higher ones for COVID cases. His brother (fire captain) and wife/now widow (a nurse) were pleading on facebook for 4 days for help and asking people to contact the hospital to complain.

How is this possible in this country? Denying available care to a treatable patient because he has the wrong illness. So sad.

"Phemonia"? I think you just discovered a new urban name.

Fuck that noise. I think I would have traveled to a state or area that could treat me.

Well I know there is an N in it so that H was a typo but I still forgot the U so still a fail.

Not sure why they didn't do that, you can get to 2 different states in a few hours from our town. Maybe they thought all the facebook friends calling would get the hospital to budge?

Maybe you've already beat the fucker. Just dealing with the aftereffects?

Couple of weeks, you might want to do one of the better antibody tests.

https://www.fda.gov/medical-devices/eme ... erformance

I got one of the Siemens tests, but Abbott seems good too.

I am going to make a Dr appointment on Monday to see if there is something better. The Dr. at the testing facility told me the nasal swab test they use is the latest and greatest. I don't believe it.
i found a place that does the antibody tests for $99 and results in 10 minutes. They test for 2 different antibodies. One is called IgM Abs or "M" antibody. That is the one that your body builds up to fight off the virus while you are sick. Once you get well that one goes away. The 2nd one is called IgG Abs or "G" antibody. That is the one that your body keeps active for a while (they don't know how long yet) so that you don't get re-infected.

The way it was explained to me it takes a week or more to develop "M" antibodies and if you test positive for those you are still contagious. If you test positive for "G" antibodies it means you are well and are no longer contagious but it proves you once had the virus (recently).

this test is done with a finger prick (blood).

as far as the live virus tests, from what i can gather, the more painful the swab test is (deeper they go) the more trustworthy the results. That's a non-doctor/contractor's opinion.
