Still, even at 2% (& I've heard other estimates as high as 3.5%) I'm not going to panic. I never caught the flu or even a chest cold even though I never got the shot so my lungs are pretty good. Now if I was very old or had some type of pre-existing condition I might be taking some extra precautions & worrying more.

It's actually hard to calculate, because you don't know how many actually are "getting it." It's likely that a lot of people aren't going to doctors, much less hospitals.

But I'd guess that's true for the flu, so there might be a way of comparing the two.
